Congratulations on completing the tasks so far in this online orientation!

Just one more to go!

This last assignment could take you a considerable amount of time unless you've already created a learning plan for your online course. So set aside some time to complete it.

The more time you set aside to organize yourself, the more it will pay off in the end.

IDevice Icon Activity-Make a Personal Learning Plan!

In this orientation you may have begun by assessing your readiness for online learning or you may have jumped in at module 2 on Logging into Blackboard. No matter where you started though, it 's your task now to create a personal learning plan for success in your online course. Before you start this assignment ensure that you have a considerable amount of time that you can dedicate to it. Making a learning plan takes time, but it will help you!

Reflect

Start by reflecting on your own personal strengths and weaknesses in the online learning world. Review Module 1 to get some ideas of what you should work on. Next make a list of the areas you want to work on and find resources listed in the module that may be able to help you. If there are workshops you will attend make sure to put those on your Blackboard calendar. Create a page in your plan for places where you can get help technically, personally and for the course itself. These should include online resources, George Brown online and college in person resources. Make sure to bookmark any pertinent online resources.

Set Goals

Before you begin adding details to your plan, make a list of your goals. Think about what you would like to accomplish in your online course. Your goals can be personal ones about time management, communications attaining a certain grade but they can also be about specific areas covered in the course that you want to learn more about. Think about how this course can help your chosen area of study.

Get Organized

Now navigate your online course; first print your course syllabus. Review the course outcomes. These will give you a good idea of what you will be able to do by completing the tasks in the course.

Begin preparing your chronological learning plan. You could do this in a Word document or in a notebook. Consider how you will organize your plan. You might want to separate each section by course module or separate it week-by-week.

Compile Important Information and Resources

Next navigate your course to make a detailed list of all the readings, assignments, discussion posts, assessments that you will be required to do. List these in chronological order in the appropriate section of your plan. Beside each item write a summary of what is required. Note specifically if it is an individual assignment or a group project. Make a note where the item is located in your course, so you can quickly go back to it for more details. Make sure you have a column for the different items ' Due Dates. If there are online assessments, make sure you state whether they are done at home or on campus. Add details about what is being tested in the assessment. If the assessments are on campus make note of time dates and testing requirements. Once again make sure these due dates are also listed in your Blackboard Calendar. Beside items in your plan include some of the potential resources that might be helpful with your learning and study. Review some of the tips included in these module. Make note of which ones might be useful. You ight want to bookmark some that you want to go back to.

Ask Questions

If you have any questions about any of the requirements, it's time now to post a question to the discussion board of your course or to email your instructor if it's a more specific or personal question.

Take Action

Check the getting started area of your course. Have you got a good idea of everything that you need to know to navigate the course. Is everything you need now included in your learning plan? Has your instructor posted any practice activities or introductory discussion postings. If yes, make sure to post your introduction and perhaps do a practice quiz on using Blackboard.

You should now have created a good overview of your own personal goals and the specific course requirements. Once your plan is created, ask your self how you will keep yourself on track. What techniques will you use to stay motivated? What one step can you take to begin?

Thank you for taking the time to complete this orientation!
